Custom pool at a northern beaches property

Local pool expertise

Pool Builders Newport

Custom pools for Newport, Avalon Beach, Palm Beach and the northern beaches, built for a setting where salt, sand and slope all have a say.

Our Newport office covers the northern beaches, including Palm Beach, Avalon Beach, Bilgola, Clareville, Whale Beach, Bayview and Mona Vale. The peninsula has its own conditions, and they matter more than most people expect when planning a pool.

Proximity to the ocean means salt in the air. Salt is corrosive, and over time it acts on fixings, fittings, handrails, equipment and any exposed metal around the pool. Material selection on a beachside property is not a cosmetic decision, it is a durability one, and it deserves attention at the specification stage rather than after the fact.

The ground varies considerably across the peninsula, and so does the terrain. A pool here is shaped as much by the setting as by the brief.

Local conditions

What building on the peninsula actually involves

Salt in the air

Salt acts on fixings, fittings, handrails and equipment over time. Choosing materials and finishes suited to a coastal setting is one of the more consequential decisions on a beachside property, and it belongs at the specification stage.

Sand near the beach, sandstone on the ridges

Blocks close to the water are often sandy, while those on the ridges and running down towards Pittwater sit on sandstone. The ground conditions on your specific block shape the excavation and the shell.

Slope and bushland

Bilgola, Clareville and parts of Avalon combine a fall with a bushland setting. That affects excavation, access, vegetation and how the pool sits within the landscape.

Northern Beaches Council

The area sits within Northern Beaches Council. Every pool in New South Wales must be registered and enclosed by a compliant barrier, and on a bush block there is usually scope to integrate that barrier into the setting rather than fight it.

Why work with us

Why northern beaches homeowners build with us

We are local

Our office is on The Boulevarde in Newport. We are on the peninsula, not driving up from the city.

Coastal conditions understood

Salt exposure is a specification question, and we treat it as one from the start.

Difficult ground is familiar

Sand, sandstone, slope and bushland all appear across these suburbs, sometimes on the same block.

Peninsula builders, not city relay

Salt exposure, bush slope or narrow peninsula access is handled by the team on your beaches block, keeping coastal context in every update.

How it works

From first conversation to the day you swim

  1. 01

    Site assessment

We look at the block itself: levels, access, soil, boundaries and where the pool can practically go. This is the conversation that shapes everything after it.

  2. 02

    Design

Shape, depth, position and finishes are resolved together with how you actually intend to use the space, rather than in isolation.

  3. 03

    Approvals

Every pool in New South Wales must be registered and enclosed by a compliant barrier. We help you understand what your council and your block require.

  4. 04

    Excavation and shell

Machinery access is planned around the site, the shell is formed, and the structural work is completed to the design.

  5. 05

    Finishes and surrounds

Interior surface, waterline tiles, coping, paving and the connection to the rest of the yard. This is where the pool stops being a structure and starts being a space.

  6. 06

    Handover

The pool is filled, equipment is commissioned and we walk you through running and caring for it.

Frequently asked questions

Which suburbs does the Newport office cover?

We work across Newport, Palm Beach, Avalon Beach, Bilgola, Clareville, Whale Beach, Bayview and Mona Vale, along with the surrounding northern beaches suburbs.

Does being near the ocean affect the pool?

Salt in the air acts on metal fittings, fixings and equipment over time. Choosing materials and finishes suited to a coastal setting is one of the more consequential decisions on a beachside property.

Can you build on a sloping bush block?

Sloping ground is common through Bilgola, Clareville and the streets running down to Pittwater. The fall, the access and the vegetation all need to be assessed on the specific site.

Is sandy ground a problem for a concrete pool?

It changes how the excavation and the shell are approached compared with clay or sandstone. The conditions on your particular block are established during the site assessment.
